Our eco policy

We do assume responsibility ...

for our environment and our fellow human beings. We love the region, the place where we live with everything that goes with it. For this reason we design our hotel more sustainable and take social responsibility. At the same time, in terms of comfort and quality, our guests do not have to compromise. Here are some of our measures to get closer to these goals:

  • We purchase our products and services regionally and seasonally wherever possible. In doing so, we avoid long distances.
  • We change the towels in the rooms not necessarily daily, but on your request to save energy and water. This also means that less detergent is used.
  • Our Hotel and the whole village separates garbage. So please leave recyclables next to the trash cans so we can dispose of them separately.
  • We avoid individually wrapped food and plastics whenever possible to conserve resources and avoid waste. At the same time, we adhere to all hygiene standards.
  • We avoid food waste by asking you what you want for breakfast and if you want to have dinner. This way we avoid throwing away food and you still get everything you want.
  • We take the hotel laundry to a "Lavanderia", which provides jobs for people with disabilities, so they have the possibility to be integrated in working life and earn part of their own living.
  • We participate in the events of the village, if it is possible and desired. For us it is a great added value that a lot is organized here in the village and thus social life takes place. Young and old live and celebrate together. The stores and bars in the village are actively used, also by us.
  • We have installed a solar system on our roof to make our house almost energy neutral. We feed the excess electricity that our house does not need into the grid.
  • HOTEL LOS CASTAÑOS has received a grant from the European Union under the NextGenerationEU Fund, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, for the installation of those solar panels within the program of incentives linked to self-consumption and storage, with renewable energy sources, as well as the implementation of renewable thermal systems in the residential sector of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, managed by the Regional Government of Andalusia, through the Andalusian Energy Agency.
  • We heat or cool our hotel in an energy-efficient way and recommend that the rooms are still comfortably air-conditioned or heated during daylight hours. In the evening, the open window or, in winter, the fire in the fireplace is often enough to keep the temperatures comfortable.
  • We normally provide hot water from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. to save energy. If you need hot water to take a bath or shower during the night just let us know.
  • All lighting in the hotel is equipped with energy-saving lamps. Water-saving shower heads are used in the bathrooms.
  • We deliberately chose to have a small pool. In summer (July/August), the municipality operates an outdoor pool, which our guests can also use for a small entrance fee (currently 2 euros per day).
  • We work without paper products as far as possible. We use cloth napkins for dinner, and we are happy to send invoices by e-mail. We post everything required by law, all other documents are available in electronic form. The paper we use is recycled.

We want to improve constantly. Therefore, we are grateful for any hints on what we can do more efficiently or better in general and with regard to the conservation of resources. Thank you in advance.
