Sevilla wonderful whatever the weather

Sevilla, capital city of Andalucia, is just an hour and a half’s drive from Los Castaños so we drove there to celebrate my birthday recently. Ignoring the weather forecast which for some reason we thought didn´t apply to us, we arrived in the pouring rain and without coats or umbrellas.

Wild Buggy Riding around Ronda

Rent a buggy to drive yourself or be driven. Either way TopBuggy promise that your adrenalin level will be high!

The company, based on the Algeciras road out of Ronda, offers many options of guided routes from just an hour to all day.

Stargazing in Andalucia Forest of Stars

We received a telephone call one busy evening recently from a Spanish couple frantically looking for accommodation. "We have to be in the Parque Natural de las Nieves at nine thirty," they said. "How far away are you?"

Visit Gibraltar

One of the many attractions of this part of southern Spain is Gibraltar, a massive bastion of Britishness tagged onto the end of Spain and enduring despite all attempts to wrest it from its status as a BOT – British Overseas Territory.

Romantic Cities of Andalucia

From your base in Cartajima you can visit most of the romantic cities of Andalucia on a day trip, either by train (Granada and Cordoba) or by road (Cadiz, Jerez, Malaga, Sevilla)

The black bulls of Spain

The Spanish stereotype once embodied the fearsome Duke of Alba, the grotesque Franco, the horrendous Inquisition. But times change and Spain is now all about flamenco and flounces, Carmen and castanets, bravado and bulls.
