Best Inland Hotel Award
We were thrilled to bits when word reached us that we had been chosen as the inland hotel of the year by the illustrious Academia Gastronómica Málagueña.
Other hotels receiving awards were such giants as the Parador in Malaga and the Pez Espada in Torremolinos, both very large establishments. That we, so small, should have been selected is wonderful. And amazing!
The way it happened – I received a phone call from somebody who said he was the President of the Gastronomic Academy and that we had received an award. Yeah, right! thought I.
He knew what I was thinking as he continued to say that he was not a scammer or spammer or anything nasty and that I would be receiving an email inviting me to attend the ceremonial lunch. In due course the email did arrive and it looked genuine. Still hard to believe. And wonderful!
This award from the Gastronomic Academy of Malaga and sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Navigation, the Confederation of Businessmen of Malaga (CEM), the Hoteliers Association of the Costa del Sol (Aehcos), recognises the excellent services of the hotel, the personalized attention to its clients, with emphasis on the personality of establishment (architecture and interior) and of course the gastronomy.
The plaque now hangs proudly in the entrance of Los Castaños.
